When was this story of the constellation Scorpius told?

Orion wants to kill all the earth鈥檚 wild animals, but the earth goddess Gaia was not pleased with his intentions, so she sent a giant scorpion to attack him. After the scorpion defeats Orion by stinging him to death with its poisonous tail, Gaia thanked the scorpion by placing its image in the night sky. When was this story of the constellation Scorpius told?Orion and Scorpio are among the oldest constellations...I think having come all the way from Sumerian times. The story is generally credited to the Greeks, but likely has origins going back much farther than that.

The way I heard the story, Scorpio was punished for killing for Orion and placed on the opposite side of the sky...so that Orion and Scorpio can never be seen at the same time.
