Im an Aries and I wanted to name a star after me in this constellation. What site is best to see a picture...?

....a picture of this constellation and how can I pinpoint it when I am actually outside looking up.

I live in southeast georgia.

Thank you.Im an Aries and I wanted to name a star after me in this constellation. What site is best to see a picture...?Firefly -

I am afraid that you may have been misled. The outfits that are out there convincing people to "name a star after someone" have no authority to do so - or at least no more authority than you do yourself. So if you pick a star in Aries and call it Firefly it will be every bit as meaningful as if some company sells it to you for $60 or whatever the going rate is. In fact, your version will be much more meaningful because:

1. You will have picked it out yourself.

2. You will actually be able to see the star.

3. The star will have another name, but that will be true of any star that you can see. So there is no difference in that regard.

My experience with these guys is that they will send you some official looking document that is not official with anyone but them. If you are lucky, they will provide a chart or some vague directions on how to find the star that they have picked for you. If you actually look for one of these stars using anything but a professional grade instrument, you will find that it is either 13th magnitude and too dim to see in a field of other stuff that is too dim to see, or else it is located smack dab in the middle of a globular cluster, along with a half million other stars. I can guarantee that you will not be able to see it by yourself. Sorry.

Like I said, you are better off naming your own star by yourself. That way, you can start to learn a little more about astronomy, which is - in the long run - much more rewarding than astrology.Im an Aries and I wanted to name a star after me in this constellation. What site is best to see a picture...?Please understand that you're not really naming a star. The only organization that can legally name stars is the International Astronomical Union, and they don't name them after people. All the companies claiming to name stars are just doing it for entertainment value; the star isn't actually named that anywhere but in their own database. They are all selling the same stars, and they've all sold all the bright ones - you wouldn't even be able to see the star you paid for without a professional telescope.

Also, you're almost certainly NOT an Aries. That is supposed to refer to the constellation the Sun was in the day you were born, but all the dates used for horoscopes are off by about a month. That's ok because horoscopes and astrology are completely meaningless. Just like buying a star - both are a complete waste of money.

Finally, Aries is really hard to spot - it's not a bright constellation. If you can find Orion (it's up in the winter), Taurus is to the right of Orion, and Aries is to the right or Taurus.
