Also remember that the astrological signs and dates for the sun are wrong. Don't use them if you want your answer to represent the *real* position of the sun.
I've just tried to determine the answer to your question and I'm going to have to wait until I get home to figure it out. During that time of year, the sun is in Ophiuchus, a constellation which is not one of the traditional 12 signs of the zodiac. It's right near the southern edge. But the new moon appears to be a little south of it and that might put it in Scorpius. It's hard to tell on the "Your Sky" planetarium program. So this might represent one of the unusual times where the new moon is not actually in the same constellation as the sun.
