Why were the claws of the constellation Scorpius 'cut off' to form Libra?

by Julius Caesar, I readWhy were the claws of the constellation Scorpius 'cut off' to form Libra? The other constellations of the Zodiac (circle of animals) in the classical sky were about the same width along the ecliptic. The sun spent a month in each. Scorpius was the exception. Its claws, body and tail extended over a space twice as wide as the others.

Libra was created out of the long pincers. Now there were 12 even-sized Zodiac figures, instead of ten similar and one wide one.Why were the claws of the constellation Scorpius 'cut off' to form Libra? To get to the other side. Why were the claws of the constellation Scorpius 'cut off' to form Libra? If you believe in Astrology and have a tidy mind, then it clearly makes sense that all the signs of the Zodiac should be the same size.

Otherwise, the division of the sky into constellations is a completely arbitrary system anyway - though it would be a shame to ditch all the names that have accumulated over thousands of years of astronomical history, and just number everything.
